Why is Pteropus (bat) included in class Mamalia but not Aves? How are they different from birds?

Pteropus ie. bats are included as mamalia but not aves. They fly using their fore limbs which are covered with a fold of skin but not feathers as birds. Unlike birds, Their bones are not pneumatic or hollow. They give birth to young ones. They dont lay eggs like birds.
