What is Chargaff’s rule ?

Chargaff found that concentrations of the four nitrogenous bases differed from one species to another. For a double stranded DNA for each species pyrimidine and purine bases are in a 1:1 ratio. Thus, the concentration of adenine was always about the same as the concentration of thymine. The concentration of guanine was always about the same as the concentration of cytosine.
